Hope this one stays around. Definitely my favorite so far!
Some of the competitor non-alcoholic mixtures save themselves from bitter thinness by adding calories. That is an unsatisfying cop out. Elixir No 5 is tawny and growly and mysterious, with chocolate for sure but darker, more mysterious depths that demand dilution (sparkling water:#5, 3:1 to be gently approachable. But don’t stir too well, so that the last sip will be a super concentrated settled swirl that will leave you wanting another. This is art not drink.
My husband and I have tried No 1, 2, 3, and 5. Number 5 was our favorite BY FAR. The cayenne makes you want to sip it slowly, and the flavors were complex and interesting. It reminded us most like a red wine that we might like to sip slowly and savor.
I wasn't sure what to rank it as. I feel weird saying that I am not a super-fan and it is my fav after all of the hype and the fact that it is how and why I tried CE. I love the flavors, but I'm just not digging the SMOKED part. Too overpowering. It is throwing me off and messing up the mojo groove of the flavors. Bummer me.
Incredibly rich and warm! Perfect mock tail for sipping by the fire. HIGHLY recommend.
